Oran Huston
1936-1949
Oran Huston was born in Piggott, Arkansas in 1887. He came to Oklahoma in 1912 from St. Louis, settling at Kiefer. There he operated a lumber yard during an oil boom. From Kiefer, he moved to Kansas City, then to Muskogee, and finally to Oklahoma City in 1922. Before starting the lumberyard which bore his name, he was associated here with the former F.D. Bearly Lumber Company. In 1936 he founded the Oran Huston Lumber Company and was its owner up until the time of his death in 1949. He was a past director of the Southwestern Lumbermen's Association, an elder of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, a member of Siloam Masonic lodge, a thirty-second degree Mason, and a member of Kiwanis Club. Oran had two sons, Dix and Fred, and one daughter, Janice Lee.
